Assessment & Evaluation

Continuous Understanding, Supporting & Improving

Assessment & Evaluation

At Green Valley CBSE School, assessment is a continuous process of understanding, supporting and improving student learning. Our academic year is organised into two terms, with a balanced combination of periodic assessments, summative assessments and continuous internal evaluation.

Periodic Assessments (40 + 10 Marks)

Each term includes two Periodic Assessments, conducted for 40 marks. An additional 10 marks of internal assessment is awarded based on the student's continuous participation and learning progress.

The internal assessment considers:

  • Academic and classroom activities
  • Attendance and regularity
  • Daily Practice Tests
  • Portfolio work
  • Continuous participation and progress

Summative Assessment (80 + 20 Marks)

Each term includes one Summative Assessment, conducted for 80 marks. An additional 20 marks of internal assessment recognises the student's overall participation, skills and development.

This includes:

  • Academic and classroom activities
  • Attendance and regularity
  • Daily Practice Tests
  • Portfolio work
  • Continuous participation and progress

Assessment for Improvement

We believe assessment should not be limited to marks and examinations. Regular practice, activities, portfolios and continuous feedback help teachers identify learning gaps and provide timely support.

Our assessment system therefore aims to answer three important questions:

  1. What has the child learned?
  2. How well can the child apply the learning?
  3. How can the child improve further?

Through continuous assessment and feedback, we help every learner progress with confidence.
